FARE launches new PSA featuring Joshua Jackson to raise food allergy awareness

FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) announced on May 7 the release of a new public service announcement featuring actor, food allergy patient, and FARE volunteer ambassador Joshua Jackson. The PSA, titled “Empower Yourself, Empower Each Other,” is part of an ongoing campaign in partnership with Genentech and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation to promote greater understanding of food allergy management.

The initiative aims to reach the more than 33 million people in the United States living with food allergies. In the video message, Jackson encourages individuals to learn about recent advancements in treatment options and to consult their allergists regarding ways to manage their condition.

Sung Poblete, PhD, RN, CEO of FARE said: “FARE has been working to build a movement that changes the future of food allergy and this PSA is an important step forward in that work. Impact begins with awareness but that isn’t the finish line. Real empowerment begins when you have the confidence and knowledge to ask important questions, explore your options, and seek an allergist’s expertise to manage this disease. Knowledge is power, and knowing your options turns that power into action, helping you live better.”

The campaign seeks recognition for food allergies as a major public health issue. The new PSA follows last fall’s “RISE” spot featuring Andy Hartman and will begin airing on broadcast outlets starting May 7.

The project was financially supported by Genentech and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
