American Lung Association announces LUNG FORCE Walk in New York City on May 16

The American Lung Association in New York announced on Apr. 17 that it will hold the 12th annual LUNG FORCE Walk at Pier 16, South Street Seaport, on May 16. The event invites the community to support lung health and raise funds for research, early detection initiatives, and programs to fight lung cancer and lung disease.

The walk is significant as it brings together people affected by lung cancer and those supporting efforts to improve treatment options. This year’s event will honor Dr. Catherine A. Shu as the Medical Honoree for her work in treating lung cancer patients at Columbia University Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Erica Masin, Executive Director at the Lung Association, said, “We are calling on our community to join us to help put an end to lung cancer and lung disease one step at a time.” Masin also acknowledged Dr. Shu’s dedication: “Thanks to leaders like her, we have seen the real-world impact of our education, research and advocacy efforts.”
