Boomerang Ventures has announced its lead investment in IMPOWER HEALTH, a health technology company focused on improving mobility measurement and management. The pre-seed funding round brings IMPOWER HEALTH into Boomerang Ventures’ portfolio and coincides with the appointment of Trent McCracken as Chief Executive Officer.
IMPOWER HEALTH uses patented software to collect clinically relevant gait metrics without requiring wearables or cameras, aiming to provide objective and reimbursable insights for rehabilitation, performance, and preventive care settings.
Eric Beier, MD, Partner & Chief Medical Officer at Boomerang Ventures, stated: “Impower Health represents exactly the type of category-defining innovation we look to support. Their technology sits at the intersection of rehab, fitness, and long-term mobility health, turning everyday treadmills into clinical-grade diagnostic tools. With Trent McCracken stepping in as CEO, Impower has the leadership in place to translate this convergence into scalable impact.”
The company’s platform transforms standard treadmills into diagnostic devices capable of producing lab-quality gait data. This approach replaces subjective assessments with data-driven intelligence that can help accelerate recovery and prevent loss of mobility.
IMPOWER HEALTH aims to support a range of care needs from post-acute rehabilitation to athletic performance optimization. The technology also seeks to establish a database of gait biomarkers for early detection and prevention of mobility decline.
The market for mobility health solutions is expanding due to factors such as an aging population and increased musculoskeletal disorders. In the United States alone, there are thousands of outpatient rehab clinics and fitness centers using approximately 230,000 treadmills in both clinical and commercial environments.
By utilizing widely available exercise equipment as diagnostic tools, IMPOWER HEALTH enables clinicians to track patient progress objectively while providing real-time feedback for patients to identify potential declines before they result in injury or loss of independence.
Trent McCracken commented: “Boomerang Ventures has provided the environment necessary to move beyond simple acceleration into deep market de-risking. Their engagement has been instrumental in pressure-testing our commercialization strategy and refining our IP strategy for long-term OEM licensing. This operational partnership has allowed us to enter 2026 with a highly credible, execution-ready foundation.”
As CEO, McCracken will oversee commercialization efforts along with strategic partnerships and capital formation initiatives.
“One of the most compelling aspects of Impower Health is the opportunity to make a tangible difference in people’s lives by restoring and preserving mobility, a core component of health and independence. The healthcare market is demanding integrated, data-driven solutions, and we are uniquely positioned to accelerate growth and convert these gait metrics into clinical intelligence,” said McCracken.
IMPOWER HEALTH was founded in 2021 by Doug Miller—a biomedical engineer who previously served as Chief Architect at Life Fitness—following his collaboration with biomechanics experts at the University of Nebraska at Omaha that led to advances forming the basis for IMPOWER’s current technology.
Doug Miller added: “Bringing on the right CEO at this stage is about preparing the company for growth. Trent brings the operational leadership and decisive discipline needed to translate our technology into real-world impact, while staying true to the vision that inspired our founding.”
