Yale New Haven Health opens new urgent care center in Clinton

Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) has opened a new urgent care center in Clinton, Connecticut, aiming to provide residents with easier access to professional medical care. The facility, located at 21-B Killingworth Turnpike, covers 3,500 square feet and features seven exam rooms and an onsite testing lab capable of delivering same-day results. A staff of six will serve patients at the new site.

The Clinton location is part of Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care’s network, which includes more than 20 centers across Connecticut and New York. An additional clinic is planned for Branford in the spring of 2026.

Christopher O’Connor, CEO of YNHHS, said, “Urgent Care centers play a vital role in keeping communities healthy by offering accessible, timely care for everyday health concerns that don’t require a trip to the emergency room. Our Urgent Care facilities provide a convenient option for routine medical needs, helping patients get the care they need – close to home and quickly.”

The urgent care center treats various conditions such as wounds, sprains, burns, and pediatric illnesses including strep throat and ear infections. It also provides physicals for school or sports activities and conducts X-rays for injuries like dislocated joints or pneumonia.

Jeannie Kenkare, DO, president of Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care, stated: “Opening in Clinton allows us to expand the reach of Yale New Haven Health, making trusted urgent care available to even more families. Our centers are designed to deliver quick, compassionate care, but also to connect patients with the full strength of our health system – whether that means follow-up with a primary care provider, referral to a specialist, or ongoing telehealth support. We’re proud to be a reliable partner in health, right where people live and work.”

In addition to walk-in visits and scheduled appointments online or via telehealth platforms—which are available around the clock—patients can receive coordinated follow-up care when needed. The facility accepts most major insurance plans as well as self-pay options for uninsured individuals. More information about services and locations can be found on https://ynhhs.org/urgentcare.

Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), part of YNHHS, serves as the primary teaching hospital for Yale School of Medicine and has over 1,500 beds across two campuses in New Haven. It also includes specialty hospitals focused on children’s health, psychiatric services, and cancer treatment.
