BAAP opens submissions for Hallpike Prize 2026 recognizing work in audiovestibular medicine

The British Association of Audiovestibular Physicians (BAAP) has announced that applications are now open for the Hallpike Prize 2026. This annual award recognizes the best project in audiovestibular medicine from the previous 24 months, including research, audits, or subject reviews.

Projects can be unpublished, published, or presented in formats such as presentations or posters. The quality of each submission will be evaluated by a committee made up of the Chairs of BAAP's Education, Audit, and Clinical Standards Subcommittees. The committee is led by the Vice President of BAAP.

Established in 2009 through a donation from Dr Jeremy Hallpike to honor his father Charles Skinner Hallpike—a pioneer in audiovestibular medicine—the prize aims to encourage excellence and innovation in the field.

The winner will receive a certificate and a cheque for £300 at the BAAP Annual Conference scheduled for March 2026. The recipient is expected to present their work at this event.

According to BAAP, "The criteria on which the selection is based are: quality of project (50%); relevance to audiovestibularmedicine (20%); relevance to clinical practice (10%) and applicant’s history of research experience (20%) (the less experience, the better rating to encourage inexperienced applicants)."

Application forms and additional details are available on the BAAP website at https://www.baap.org.uk/the-hallpike-prize/. Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, January 9, 2026.
