James Tracy named new president of ACAAI

Allergist James Tracy, DO, from Omaha, Nebraska, has been appointed as the president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI). The announcement was made during the ACAAI Annual Scientific Meeting held on October 27 in Boston. Cherie Zachary, MD, an allergist based in Eagan, Minnesota, has been elected as the president-elect.

The new vice president is David Stukus, MD from Columbus, Ohio, while Kelly Maples, MD from Norfolk, Virginia will serve as treasurer. Regents elected for three-year terms include Karla Adams, MD from JBSA Lackland Air Force Base in Texas; Tania Elliott, MD from Westport, Connecticut; and Niraj Patel, MD from Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. James Tracy is a board-certified allergist and immunologist with over three decades of experience. He completed his medical education at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and his fellowship at Wilford Hall US Air Force Medical Center. He is a partner at Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Associates of Omaha and holds academic positions at both the University of Nebraska and Creighton University.

Dr. Tracy has contributed significantly to ACAAI through various roles including serving on the Advocacy Council and several committees. His achievements have been recognized with awards such as the Distinguished Fellow of the College in 2019 and the Bela Schick Lecture and Distinguished Service award in 2020.

Dr. Cherie Zachary practices with Midwest Ear, Nose & Throat Allergy & Asthma in Eagan. She earned her undergraduate degree at Stanford University and her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine. Her residency was completed at the University of Minnesota followed by a fellowship at Northwestern University.

Dr. Zachary is actively involved with ACAAI as a member of several committees and currently chairs the Diversity Task Force. She has also served in leadership roles within other medical associations and has been recognized by her peers as a top doctor.
