ACA has enrolled 14 million people: 'High-quality health insurance for historically low prices'

Millions of Americans have signed up for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance plan for 2022.

It is a record-high number for the enrollment period and a policy win after President Joe Biden’s first full year. Federal health officials approximate that 14.2 million have enrolled for coverage.

“People across America can buy high-quality health insurance for historically low prices, thanks to the American Rescue Plan and the Affordable Care Act,” Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra told CNBC.

The number of people enrolled grew by over 20% compared to last year, CNBC reported.

“The Biden-Harris Administration will continue to build on the success of these important laws to ensure that health care is accessible to everyone who needs it,” Becerra added.

The current record surpassed the number of registrations in 2016, which was more than 12.6 million. It is estimated that there are now 2 million more individuals who became eligible for ACA plans at an affordable cost because of the American Rescue Plan.
