More than 5,000 nurse practitioners attended the 2026 American Association of Nurse Practitioners National Conference in Las Vegas last month, with additional educational opportunities now available through the event's online component. The American Association of Nurse Practitioners announced on July 24 that it has extended the deadline for completing continuing education courses from August 11 to August 25 due to planned maintenance during the online conference period.
The online version of the conference features 119 sessions covering a range of topics such as dermatology, pediatrics, psych-mental health, and genitourinary issues. Attendees can select sessions based on their interests and needs. According to AANP, nearly 45,500 online session registrations have been recorded so far, and close to 22,500 continuing education certificates have been awarded in the opening weeks.
Some of the most popular courses include "Antibiotics and Infection in Acute Care: Update 2026," "Evolving Lipid Guidelines: Practical Applications," "Clinical Practice Guideline Updates Rhinosinusitis," as well as sessions focused on obesity management and alcohol use disorder. Participants have provided positive feedback about their experiences. One attendee said that “Spinning the Truth: Evaluation of Dizziness in the Emergency Department ‘was the most excellent presentation on evaluation of dizziness that I have ever heard.’” Another participant who attended "Age-Friendly Postoperative Care in the Oncologic Setting" stated that “the speaker covered a lot of information yet was able to be quite detailed and offered practical tips. One of the best sessions I have had the joy of attending.” Regarding "Update on Osteoporosis and Fracture Prevention in Men and Women," an attendee commented: “What an excellent overview of the current treatment guidelines and medications used.”
Among this year’s offerings are fourteen virtual-only sessions created by co-chairs from AANP Communities as part of a feature called “Community Corner.” These include presentations such as "Opioid Management in Cancer Patients" by Oncology Community co-chair Susy Varghese; "Primary Palliative Care in Times of Scarcity" by Hospice and Palliative Care Community co-chair Elena Prendergast; and "Age-Friendly Postoperative Care in the Oncologic Setting" by Acute Care Community co-chair TaCharra Laury.
Nurse practitioners interested in earning up to 120 contact hours for continuing education may register for #AANP26 Online until registration closes on July 28. The conference remains accessible until August 25.
