The American Association of Nurse Practitioners announced on Aug. 4 that National NP Week will take place from Nov. 8-14, with a range of activities planned to recognize nurse practitioners for their work across the country.
This year’s celebration includes an in-person event in New York City on Nov. 10, where hundreds of nurse practitioners are invited to gather at the Today Show plaza. The association encourages participants to bring a valid photo ID, wear a white coat, and carry an NP-themed poster.
AANP highlighted that in 2025, every state and territory submitted an NP Week proclamation signed by an elected official for the first time. The organization is asking all nurse practitioners to request government officials sign proclamations again this year, except Delaware, which secured its proclamation months early for the second consecutive year.
To support these efforts, AANP has released a resource page with information on how to download and submit proclamations. The page features a map showing states and territories as they receive official recognition for nurse practitioners’ contributions.
Nurse practitioners are encouraged to participate by sharing announcements online, submitting editorials to media outlets—especially local publications—and posting about their experiences using #NPWeek and #NPsLead on social media. AANP will share infographics about the role of nurse practitioners and videos from President Valerie Fuller during the week’s festivities.
The association also invites NPs to submit personal stories about why they chose their profession. More than 100 stories have been collected over two years since AANP began requesting submissions.
