Vanderbilt University task force to use survey to help fight doctor burnout

The Vanderbilt Task Force for Empowerment and Well-Being is setting up an internet survey to find out how doctors feel about their jobs and about their well-being.

The Vanderbilt Task Force for Empowerment and Well-Being shared a link to the online survey with Vanderbilt University Medical Center doctors, a press release said. The doctors are to respond by giving answers about their demographics and reply to questions.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center President, CEO and Dean of the School of Medicine Jeff Balser and Deputy CEO and Chief Health System Officer C. Wright Pinson put together the task force. Vanderbilt University William F. Meacham Professor of Neurological Surgery Reid Thompson and associate professor of Clinical Medicine and Executive Director of Faculty and Staff Health and Wellness Mary Yarbrough are co-chairs of the task force.

Yarbrough said the task force is assigned to find out whether doctors at the school are burned out, find out how other health organizations nationwide look to combat doctors getting burned out and come up with a strategy to fight the problem at the school.
