Alere Forensics receives ABFT accreditation

Alere Forensics at Redwood Toxicology Laboratory, the forensics division of Alere, has received accreditation from the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT).

This accreditation covers post-mortem and human performance toxicology analysis, as well as driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol (DUID) testing. The laboratory processes specimens for government, forensic and criminal justice organizations.

The ABFT accreditation and earlier Title 17 recognition from the California Department of Public Health means Alere Forensics will be able to be more innovative and timely with its testing services.

“ABFT accreditation allows us to launch a vital service for agencies requiring DUID and postmortem toxicology,” Vice President and General Manager Albert Berger said. “By offering accurate results in a timely manner, we are well-positioned to help criminal justice agencies and laboratories overwhelmed by backlogs.”

Highly qualified toxicologists at Alere Forensics will offer screening and confirmation of over 100 drugs and drug metabolites with the best analytical methods.
