ADA gathers leaders for first-ever technology conference

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recently gathered leaders in the design, diabetes and health technology industries to attend the ADA Technology Summit held in Mountain View, California.

Attendees included over 150 entrepreneurs, clinicians, regulators, payers, patients with diabetes and investors. The goal was to discuss the needs of caregivers, people with diabetes, health care providers and others who are at chance of developing diabetes.

Leaders now plan to take action to develop technological solutions that help people who need diabetes management and care.

"We are privileged to serve individuals living with diabetes and are eager to collaborate with the technology community to help us meet our goal of improving the lives of those affected by the disease," Dr. Jane Chiang, ADA executive vice president of medical innovation, said. "By convening this influential group of like-minded innovators, our goal is to advance technology solutions that go beyond this event and create true impact for individuals living with diabetes."

Health experts consider diabetes to be a serious public health crisis. Currently, one out of every 11 Americans lives with diabetes.

Despite significant advancements in medicine, science and technology, people with diabetes still need more progress in developing adequate technology and care.
