Duane Pieri, President of Erie Medical Supplies, observed a strong demand among physicians for advanced medical devices for clinic-based procedures at this year’s American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology (AOCOO-HNS) conference. He shared his insight in a statement to Patient Daily on May 21.
Erie Medical Supplies attended the AOCOO-HNS conference as a vendor. Pieri told Patient Daily that his company excels at selling equipment, including advanced camera systems, to physicians operating on a clinic-sized budget rather than a large-scale hospital budget. “We take pride in providing tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of each practice, whether through new sales or maintenance of their current systems,” he said. The company also collaborates closely with practitioners to help them upgrade or repair their existing endoscope equipment.
Pieri says that during the conference, numerous physicians expressed an interest in adding flexible and rigid endoscopes to their inventory.
“There has been a noticeable shift from traditional OR hospital settings for many procedures, leading to an increase in inquiries about larger capital items, such as microscopes and endoscopy systems with advanced visualization capabilities in the clinic,” Pieri said. “Utilizing this technology in the clinic allows physicians to educate both mid-level staff and patients.”
Pieri also noted that many vendors have merged their product offerings and are providing more consultative services to physicians and their practices.
Regarding Erie Medical Supplies’ experience at the conference, Pieri stated, “We look forward to continued collaboration with physicians and vendors at future conferences like AOCOO-HNS and anticipate sustained interest in our high-quality equipment offered at competitive prices.”
The 2024 AOCOO-HNS conference was held from May 1-3 at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort, according to the organization's website. The conference was created to adhere to the requirements of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery. It featured numerous vendors, 51 speakers, and dozens of events throughout the three-day event.
According to his LinkedIn profile, in addition to being president of Erie Medical Supplies, Pieri manages business operations for Ecleris USA. Erie Medical Supplies sells top-of-the-line ENT equipment to hospitals, doctors, and teaching institutions.
