NOF's online support community surpasses 30,000 members

The National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) Online Community, hosted by Inspire, recently announced that it now has over 30,000 members involved in the patient and caregiver peer-to-peer support group.

The online community has seen fast membership growth since it first began in October 2007. It is an important way for patients and caregivers to connect.

To mark the occasion, NOF will celebrate 30 days of community heroes. This event honors several of the original members of the community. All such members continue to be active in the community, posting useful information on a regular basis.

"Our online community connects people with osteoporosis or an interest in bone health, allowing them to share advice, support and experience with one another," Amy Porter, executive director and CEO at NOF, said. "We're thrilled more than 30,000 people are now taking advantage of this free online resource and are thankful for our longstanding partnership with Inspire and the support of our team of volunteer moderators for making the community's growth and continued success possible."

Approximately 54 million adults in the U.S. are considered at risk for low bone mass and osteoporosis, making this support group especially meaningful.

"The National Osteoporosis Foundation is the most respected and trusted osteoporosis organization in the U.S.," Inspire CEO Brian Loew said. "NOF has been a wonderful partner in growing the online community and the 30,000 member milestone is a testament to the organization's unwavering focus on providing support to people affected by osteoporosis."
