Alzheimer’s Association New York City prepares to host community fundraising event

The New York City chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association has decided to host the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Staten Island, where residents can join the movement to help Alzheimer’s patients.

The walk will begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 8 in Clove Lakes Park. A Promise Garden ceremony will kick off the walk to honor people who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

Joining the walk will help raise funds that will be invested in Alzheimer’s support, care and research. The finances will help create clinical trials and advocacy opportunities as well as services and programs.

"The Alzheimer's Association New York City chapter is the leader in Alzheimer's care and support for people in the five boroughs living with the disease and their families," Christopher Smith, executive director for the New York City chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, said. "Through Walk to End Alzheimer's in Staten Island and others we host each year throughout New York City, we join together to support and honor the families dealing with this devastating disease, while raising awareness and funds for critically needed Alzheimer's care and support, as well as research programs that can help bring us closer to a cure."
