Dignitaries from around the world came together at the Ninth Annual World Focus on Autism event.
First spouses and luminaries from the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia and North America gathered in New York for the cause, which overlapped the 71th Anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly.
Attendees spoke on different questions regarding autism and taking a closer look at disabilities within the framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The assembly intended to bring a higher level of awareness to autism around the globe and improve services offered to those diagnosed with the disorder during their lifetime. Autism Speaks organized the event and honored the life of Suzanne Wright, the group's cofounder, who was a passionate voice behind World Focus on Autism events.
Participants were able to answer questions and explain the state of autism in their respective countries. In closing, the Suzanne and Bob Wright Global Visionary Award was presented to Ban Soon-taek, wife of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
