BIO's Rosalind Franklin Award goes to NexSteppe CEO

Anna Rath, president and CEO of NexSteppe, recently announced that she will give a presentation and receive the Rosalind Franklin Award from the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) at the 2016 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology.

This is the 13th Annual BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology. It will be held on April 19 in San Diego, California.

Every year, an outstanding woman in industrial biotechnology and bioprocessing receives the Rosalind Franklin Award. It is designed to recognize the significant contributions the woman has made to science.

To present the award, a special selection committee including leaders and scientists in the industry must choose the recipient. Rath has been chosen because of her commitment to making progress in industrial biotechnology.

In 2010, Rath first established NexSteppe in order to better grow and market optimized crops that can be used for renewable fuel and energy. In fewer than five years, the company became a worldwide firm involving more than 40 people.

The unique technology platform at NexSteppe enables the company to lead the field in bioenergy sorghum, a type first received in Brazil -- and now used around the world for fuel.

Thanks to Rath’s leadership, the company is building a secure, sustainable future for the world, the environment, the economy and the global energy supply.
