Experts in science and technology have stated that biomedical innovation is crucial to making progress in discovering, developing and producing important new treatments, all of which are focal points of the 21st Century Cures campaign called #CuresNow.
When scientists make progress with treatments, research and cures, patients around the world see improved quality of life. In addition, local economies experience job growth, benefitting even more people.
One significant example of progress is Horizon Pharma, which is a drug maker focusing on treatments to resolve rare diseases. This company recently established new U.S. headquarters in Illinois’ Lake Forest area. These additional offices will enable the company to hire hundreds of new employees to make more headway in scientific and technological developments.
Specific leaders of #CuresNow include Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), John Shimkus (R-IL) and Fred Upton (R-MI), who is the chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee.
“Reps. Shimkus, Kinzinger and Upton understand what it will take to deliver still more people from debilitating illness with the next generation of biopharmaceutical research,” Mark Denzler, vice president and chief operating officer of the Illinois Manufacturers Association, said. “We need more of our lawmakers to follow their example and usher in a medical golden age.”
Progress for #CuresNow has continued to be made, particularly with the 21st Century Cures Act. Now communities and patients throughout Illinois and the U.S. can benefit from progress in the medical industry.
