A committee of scientific peers has chosen Anna Rath, the president and CEO of NexSteppe, to receive the 2016 Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) Rosalind Franklin Award.
BIO first created the award to recognize outstanding women who are involved in the industrial biotechnology field.

The purpose is to display the various, major contributions that women have made to science. Receiving the award recognizes that the scientist, her unique research and her productivity in the biotechnology industry are appreciated.
“Much like Rosalind Franklin, Anna Rath’s passion for science and strong work ethic has led to one of the greatest breakthroughs in industrial biotechnology,” Brent Erickson, executive vice president for BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section, said. “Optimizing crops for renewable energy has spurred the growth of the biofuels, biopower, and bio-based product industries. BIO is pleased to present Anna this year with the Rosalind Franklin Award, and we are looking forward to her delivering what are anticipated to be inspiring remarks.”
