Aetna is a large health benefits provider, serving over 1.6 million individuals throughout Pennsylvania, and now, thanks to a new agreement between a local hospital, patients can receive quality care more conveniently.
This new agreement consists of a three-year contract between Roxborough Memorial Hospital and Aetna, establishing the hospital as a member of Aetna's network. In 2012, the hospital was under contract with Aetna, but this agreement marks the first time in four years patients have had this option.
Among the benefits this contract brings to Aetna's members is the ability to receive benefits, as well as in-network rates from Roxborough.
"Aetna members in the Roxborough area can now conveniently and affordably have their care provided at the hospital closest to home," Roxborough Memorial Hospital CEO Peter Adamo said.
Laurie Brubaker, Aetna's president of operations in Pennsylvania, believes the contract will be beneficial for Aetna's members, especially those located near Philadelphia.
"We strive to offer our members broad access to quality facilities and physicians, and we’re glad Roxborough Memorial will be part of that effort," she said.
