Association of Black Cardiologists, PhRMA detail new treatments for heart disease, stroke patients

New therapies for patients who have had a stroke or are living with heart disease may soon be on the market.

According to a recent report from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC), biopharmaceutical companies across the United States are working on 190 new medications to treat heart disease and help patients recover after a stroke.

Heart disease and strokes are the leading causes of the death in the country. It is estimated that over 85 million Americans have been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease and that more than six million Americans have suffered a stroke.
