A hearing titled “Examining Legislation to Improve Health Care and Treatment" will be convened by the U.S. Subcommittee on Health on Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
The hearing will be under the direction of the subcommittee's chairman, Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-PA).
Several bills will be discussed during the hearing. They include the Sports Medicine Licensure Clarity Act of 2015, a bipartisan measure aimed at clarifying medical liability rules for athletic and medical professionals; the Improving Access to Maternity Care Act, a bipartisan bill that would mandate the designation of maternity care health professional shortage areas by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration; the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act, a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Nursing Workforce Development programs that are already in place; the Accurate Education for Prenatal Screenings Act, a bipartisan measure that would require the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to develop, enact and maintain educational programs for patients and providers about cell-free DNA prenatal screenings; the Cardiac Arrest Survival Act, a bill that would make more people eligible for immunity from civil liability in cases where an automated external defibrillator device (AED) was used; and the Educating to Prevent Eating Disorders Act of 2015, a program to study eating disorders and the value of early intervention and detection related to them.
