AbbVie to offer Humira at discounted price on TrumpRx platform

AbbVie will sell its drug Humira through the government’s direct-to-consumer platform TrumpRx for about $950, representing an approximately 86% discount from its typical price, which can exceed $6,900 for uninsured patients, according to an Apr. 7 report by CBS News.

The move is part of AbbVie's participation in TrumpRx and follows a previous announcement in January that did not specify pricing details. In exchange for offering these discounts and making a $100 billion research and development manufacturing pledge, AbbVie received exemptions from recently announced tariffs as well as future government-imposed price mandates.

Besides Humira, AbbVie will also provide discounted prices for its hypothyroidism medication Synthroid and eye drops Combigan and Alphagan on the TrumpRx site. The lower prices are available only to patients who lack insurance or whose plans do not cover these medicines. Most insured individuals already pay less than the list price due to their coverage.

TrumpRx launched in February after a short delay. Other pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and AstraZeneca have also listed discounted products on the platform. The initiative is part of efforts by the Trump administration to reduce prescription drug costs in line with the Most Favored Nation mandate, which aims to match U.S. drug prices with those found in other developed countries.

Some companies reached agreements with the government for exemptions from these price controls by participating in TrumpRx; however, when President Donald Trump introduced 100% tariffs on pharmaceutical imports last week, many firms with such arrangements still faced new levies despite their deals.
