Westerly Hospital has received the 2025 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Experience, placing it among the top-performing healthcare organizations in the United States.
The award is given each year to hospitals and health systems that achieve patient experience performance in the 95th percentile or higher. Press Ganey works with more than 41,000 healthcare facilities nationwide, aiming to support organizations in improving caregiver resilience and enhancing safety, quality, and the human experience of care.

Westerly Hospital previously earned Guardian of Excellence awards for Patient Experience in both 2023 and 2024.
In 2025, a total of 211 health systems and 46 health plans across the country were recognized with Press Ganey’s Human Experience awards. The Patient Experience award highlights organizations committed to improving patient experiences as measured by key indicators from Press Ganey’s surveys or the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey. These standardized tools, developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), assess aspects such as provider communication, care coordination, and access to services across various healthcare settings.
Westerly Hospital is part of Yale New Haven Health and operates as a 125-bed facility serving southern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut. The hospital provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services including emergency care, medical and surgical treatment, radiology, laboratory work, rehabilitative services, heart and vascular care, interventional pain management, wound care, pulmonary rehabilitation services, geriatric psychiatric care for inpatients, and cancer care through its partnership with Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center. All inpatient rooms at Westerly Hospital are private.
