The Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) Auxiliary has pledged funding for the creation of the Sanctuary Forest, a new garden space intended to support patients, families, and staff at the Adams Neurosciences Center on the hospital’s Saint Raphael Campus. The Center is currently under construction and is reported to be about 75 percent complete.
In July, members of the Auxiliary visited the more than 500,000-square-foot facility. During their tour, they explored clinical areas and common spaces designed to provide care for individuals with complex neurological conditions. The Center features multiple-purpose spaces to allow flexibility in its use, including a first-floor conference center that will accommodate research conferences and educational programs focused on neuroscience.
Hymie Glick, president of the YNHH Auxiliary, stated: “In furtherance of our mission to support YNHH and the well-being of patients and their families, the YNHH Auxiliary is proud of its investment in providing a comfortable and inviting garden area for everyone to enjoy.”
The design of the Adams Neurosciences Center includes several areas dedicated to employee wellness. Staff will have access to respite areas throughout the facility meant for rest and recuperation.

The planned Sanctuary Forest will include natural plantings as well as shaded seating areas and walkways intended to offer visitors a peaceful environment.
For many years, the Auxiliary has contributed through both volunteer service and fundraising efforts that help improve patient care environments across Yale New Haven Health.
