Northwestern Medicine hospitals achieve high marks in annual U.S. News national rankings

Northwestern Medicine hospitals have received recognition in the 2025-26 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital rankings. Northwestern Memorial Hospital has been named to the Best Hospital Honor Roll for the 14th consecutive year and is the only hospital in Illinois with eight specialties ranked in the national Top 10.

Howard Chrisman, MD, president and chief executive officer of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, stated, “Every day our physicians, nurses and staff demonstrate their commitment to better medicine, better outcomes and better patient care. We are proud to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital rankings as one of the top hospitals in the U.S.”

According to this year’s results, Northwestern Memorial Hospital is tied for No. 1 in Illinois and metropolitan Chicago. The hospital achieved national Top 10 rankings in Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery (No. 7), Diabetes & Endocrinology (No. 7), Gastroenterology & GI Surgery (No. 10), Geriatrics (No. 9), Neurology & Neurosurgery (No. 6), Obstetrics & Gynecology (No. 6), Pulmonology & Lung Surgery (No. 7), and Urology (No. 10).

Other Northwestern Medicine facilities also received state and regional recognition: Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital is ranked No. 8 in both Illinois and Chicago metropolitan area; Central DuPage Hospital is ranked No. 7 in both regions; Huntley, McHenry, and Woodstock Hospitals combined are ranked No. 10; Palos Hospital holds a tie at No. 17 statewide and No. 16 within Chicago’s metro area.
