Today marks World Lung Cancer Day, with the American Lung Association urging residents of Florida to take steps to address lung cancer, which remains the top cause of cancer deaths in the state.
According to the organization, over 18,500 people in Florida are expected to receive a lung cancer diagnosis this year. The association points out that progress has been made: "Thanks to advancements in early detection, treatment and research, the five-year survival rate has improved by 44% over the past decade."
The American Lung Association is recommending four specific actions for individuals who want to contribute to efforts against lung cancer.
