Two faculty members from Baylor College of Medicine have been elected as members of the American Association of Physicians (AAP). Dr. Carl Allen, a professor specializing in pediatrics – hematology and oncology, and Dr. Fasiha Kanwal, a professor focusing on medicine – gastroenterology and hepatology, are among the new inductees into this prestigious organization.
Allen holds a key role as co-director of the Texas Children’s Cancer Center's Histiocytosis and Lymphoma Programs. Meanwhile, Kanwal continues to contribute her expertise in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology.
The AAP is a distinguished society that includes America's foremost physician-scientists. It aims to honor those who make significant, enduring contributions to health improvements. The association encourages research led by physicians in all areas related to medicine and health, promoting a belief in the science-based improvement of patient care and general health in the United States.
The organization boasts over 1,900 active members, along with 755 emeritus and honorary members, all contributing to its mission of advancing healthcare through scientific leadership.
