Mayo Clinic tops Florida hospital rankings again

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Mayo Clinic has once again been ranked the No. 1 hospital in Florida and the Jacksonville metro area by U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals" 2024-2025 rankings. This marks the eighth time in nine years that Mayo Clinic in Florida has achieved this distinction. The institution also made significant strides in national rankings, being recognized in 10 specialties.

"We are humbled and honored to once again be ranked as the top hospital in Florida by U.S. News & World Report," said Kent Thielen, M.D., CEO of Mayo Clinic in Florida. "Our outstanding teams are dedicated to continuing to push the boundaries of medicine while providing the highest quality care to each of our patients."

Mayo Clinic in Florida is nationally ranked among the top 50 hospitals in 10 specialties, which include factors such as patient experience, survival rates, discharge outcomes, nurse staffing, advanced technology, patient services, and reputation among medical experts. Ophthalmology, psychiatry, and rheumatology rankings are based solely on reputation.

Annually serving over 164,000 patients across 50 specialty areas, Mayo Clinic in Florida employs approximately 10,000 staff members and contributes more than $4 billion to Florida's economy.

Established in Jacksonville in 1986 as an extension of its Rochester, Minnesota practice, Mayo Clinic now operates a 602-acre campus attracting patients from all U.S. states and over 80 countries.

Founded as a single-physician practice in 1864, Mayo Clinic has grown into a global healthcare destination with more than 80,000 staff members providing care to over 1.3 million patients annually from every state and around 130 countries.

Mayo Clinic’s flagship location in Rochester is recognized for excellence across more specialties than any other hospital and has been an Honor Roll member since U.S. News & World Report began publishing its list in 1990. It has also held the No. 1 ranking in Minnesota since state-specific rankings were introduced in 2012.

Similarly, Mayo Clinic Arizona has maintained its No. 1 position for both the Phoenix metro area and the state for twelve consecutive years.

The "Best Hospitals" rankings by U.S. News & World Report analyze data from approximately 5,000 medical centers nationwide.
