Mayo Clinic Platform president: ‘Our collaboration with Techcyte will produce a global digital pathology platform’

Mayo Clinic Platform has entered into a partnership with Techcyte to develop innovative pathology technology. The collaboration, as discussed by the president of Mayo Clinic Platform and the CEO of Techcyte, aims to bring significant advancements in the field.

John Halamka, MD at Mayo Clinic, emphasizes the importance of patient needs in their work. He says, "Mayo Clinic puts the needs of the patient first." He further explains that this focus inspires them to innovate across various medical domains. "That inspires us to innovate, discovering new cures and testing new care models across the many domains of medicine," Halamka states. He is optimistic about their collaboration with Techcyte and believes it will lead to a global digital pathology platform. "Our collaboration with Techcyte will produce a global digital pathology platform, bringing together privacy-protected data sources, solution developers, and caregivers," he adds.

Techcyte is known for its specialization in using AI technology to enhance digital pathology. The company's recent partnership with Mayo Clinic Platform aims to improve digital pathology on a global scale. This collaboration is expected to increase efficiency, accuracy and promote technological advancements that could revolutionize pathology completely.

The AI software developed by Techcyte will enable pathologists, AI providers, biopharma companies, whole slide scanner manufacturers and labs to collaborate and communicate effectively through a digital platform dedicated to pathology practice. This information was shared in a news release from Mayo Clinic.

Techcyte has previously collaborated with Mayo Clinic in clinical pathology to digitize lab medicine testing. Now they aim to expand this relationship through their joint work on this digital pathology platform. Ben Cahoon, CEO of Techcyte said: "We're humbled at the opportunity to build on our existing relationship with Mayo Clinic by working with Mayo Clinic Platform to build an open, AI-enabled workflow platform for digital pathology."

Halamka along with several other doctors from Mayo Clinic are enthusiastic about the partnership with Techcyte. They are keen to witness the outcomes of improved technology and increased collaboration in pathology study. Bobbi Pritt, M.D., chair of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic, expressed her excitement about the new collaboration. She said: "This new collaboration is exciting. The combination of Mayo Clinic's diagnostic expertise with Techcyte's digital workflows will shape the future of both the clinical and anatomical pathology practices."
