In the UK, over 9,800 people are diagnosed with mouth cancer annually. This figure has surged by fifty percent over the past decade. Often, due to insufficient awareness and knowledge about mouth cancer symptoms, individuals remain unaware of their condition until it advances to stages III or IV. Moreover, only eleven percent of people are knowledgeable about these symptoms. The Mouth Cancer Action Month in November aims to enhance awareness about this disease, as per a news release from the Oral Health Foundation.
Corner Dental Practice managed to raise funds during Mouth Cancer Action Month through hosting a 10K seaside walk and running a raffle. A spokesperson for Corner Dental Practice explains: "Throughout the month of Oral Cancer Awareness, our team have worked together to promote the awareness of oral cancer and to educate on the different signs and symptoms to look out for... Together as a team we held a raffle at the practice with a prize of a beautiful hamper. We also held a sponsored 10km walk through our Norfolk coast town of Cromer... We are completely overjoyed by the support received and how many people came together to sponsor our team for such a worthy cause."
