Amazon Care expands 'patient-centric' virtual health services throughout the U.S.

With a growing customer base, Amazon Care’s virtual health services have now been made available across the country.

In-person services will be also rolled out in over 20 new cities this year.

“Patients are tired of a health care system that doesn't put them first,” Kristen Helton, director of Amazon Care, said, according to BuiltInSEA. “Our patient-centric service is changing that, one visit at a time. We’ve brought our on-demand urgent and primary care services to patients nationwide. As we grow the service, we’ll continue to work with our customers to address their needs."

The COVID-19 pandemic, according to the company, has resulted in a growing demand to bring care into patients’ homes, and Amazon Care is able to provide fast access to urgent and primary care services.

Amazon Care is capable of dispatching a nurse to a patient’s home for additional care, in locations where in-person care is available, if the issue can’t be addressed over video.

"The service is already available in Seattle, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas,  Austin, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Arlington," Healthcare Innovation said. "In 2022, we plan to bring in-person care services to more than 20 additional  cities — including major metropolitan areas like San Francisco, Miami, Chicago and New York City — so customers can access care where and when they need it most.”

Amazon Care began in September of 2019 with a virtual health clinic and in-person follow-up visits, Healthcare Innovation reported.
