The U.S. Department of Labor has reported that over half a million health care workers left their jobs in August.
Another report stated that the unemployment rate in September decreased.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the August 2021 Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) identified that 534,000 health care workers quit their job during that month.
"In total, the job creation in the first eight months of my administration is nearly 5 million jobs,” President Joe Biden said, according to Newsweek. “Jobs up, wages up, unemployment down — that's progress. And it's a tribute to the hard work and resilience of the American people who are battling through this pandemic, working to keep their businesses afloat,"
The Labor Department also reported that there has been a 0.4% decrease in the unemployment rate from 5.2% in August 2021 to 4.8% in September 2021.
The August 2021 JOLTS report showed that there has been an increase in the number of health care workers, 130,000 more, who quit their jobs compared to the same month last year. About 892,000 people quit their jobs in hotels, bars and restaurants as well, and 721,000 Americans quit retail jobs, Newsweek reported.
The number of people leaving their jobs only slightly increased in manufacturing, construction, transportation and warehousing industries.
