Best Buy is teaming up with Current Health as 'significantly more health care can be delivered in the home'

American multinational company Best Buy Health -- which provides senior care and elder care technologies by using tech-enabled human interactions -- acquired Scotland-based technology company Current Health.

Best Buy expands its business health capabilities in its latest deal with Current Health to create a "holistic care ecosystem." The transaction is expected to close by the end of its fiscal 2022 fourth quarter.

"Over the coming decade, significantly more health care can be delivered in the home," Current Health CEO Christopher McCann told Fox Business. "Best Buy has unparalleled physical reach, world-class supply-chain logistics and trusted support services -- allowing us to provide a high-touch consumer experience at scale."

Best Buy Health president Deborah DiSanzo said the acquisition will combine Current Health's platform with its existing health products and services, Fox Business reported.

The company is aiming to strengthen its position with new products in the fitness, wearables, health and wellness categories.

Best Buy CEO Corie Barry stated that the company has increased its SKU count by over 150% within the past year, which included new products “focused on conditional health management that help customers track blood glucose levels, keep tabs on heart data, manage weight or even help identify allergens in foods. We are working with hospitals and care centers to curate health products for their patients on co-branded landing pages," she told Fox Business.
