Explorer Surgical to launch expansion of digital platform to 'enable future innovation for medical device companies'

Explorer Surgical, a Chicago-based company, is improving surgical outcomes through the expansion of its digital platform into the broader field of robotic surgery, a space that is ripe for development and innovation.

Through the development of the Explorer Live digital platform, medical robotics companies can better manage surgical procedures.

“Our goal is simple, yet critical: Find a better way to provide medical device companies with actionable insights on the black box of surgery,” Explorer Surgical CEO and cofounder Jennifer Fried said, according to Medical Design & Outsourcing. “For example, there is a perception of surgery that the surgeon is the key to successful outcomes, but we know this downplays the role of the nurses, scrub techs, reps and others who can greatly contribute to workflow and efficiency. We are the only tool that not only focuses on guiding every team member but also gives a wide view of all of the players in the room and captures data on what they do. This data collection enables future innovation for medical device companies.”

Explorer Live is the only platform currently available that allows every team member and important piece of data to be documented for future research.

The program will help to improve the work and performance flow and also makes it possible for surgeons to broadcast in real-time, providing accurate data.

The innovation of Explorer Surgical's new program is paving the way for best practices, as well as finding potential room for improvement.
