Kalamazoo-based Bronson Healthcare is partnering with one of the largest health care companies in the U.S. to build a 96-bed psychiatric hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan.
The newest mental health hospital in Southwest Michigan will be built in partnership with Acadia Healthcare, a network of behavioral health facilities with various locations across the U.S., which is headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee.
“We’ve chosen to develop our behavioral health hospital with Acadia as our strategic partner because of their deep knowledge of the industry and their expertise in developing and operating inpatient behavioral health services,” Bronson Healthcare President and CEO Bill Manns said, according to MiBiz. “And we have chosen Battle Creek as the location because of the talented workforce we have here who can bring their skills to the new facility and help us expand care to reach more patients and families from across the region.”
The construction of the medical facility is scheduled to start this fall and is expected to be operational by 2023, MiBiz reported.
The $35 million investment psychiatric hospital will be at a 25-acre area at Glenn Cross Road and M-66.
The hospital will treat adults with acute symptoms of mental health disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder.
