Biogen recently appointed Jeff Capello as executive vice president and chief financial officer, who will take over Dec. 11.
Capello will lead the business planning, tax, treasury, internal audit, accounting and investor relations operations, in addition to serving on the Executive Committee, according to an announcement. He will report to Michel Vounatsos, CEO.
Capello has been in the finance industry for 26 years and he was recently the executive vice president and CFO of Beacon Health Options Inc., the announcement said. He is certified public accountant and is a graduate of Harvard Business School with an MBA in accounting.
“I am very excited to join Biogen, a company which is recognized as a pioneer and a leader in treating neurological diseases,” Capello said in the announcement. “I look forward to working with colleagues around the world in our mission to make a difference in the lives of patients.”
Vounatsos is pleased to receive Capello as part of the team.
“We are fortunate to have Jeff join Biogen given the depth and breadth of his experience,” Vounatsos said in the release. “He comes to Biogen at an exciting time as we execute our business strategy, pursue business development opportunities and build our pipeline.”
Biogen seeks to develop innovative therapies for individuals who are suffering from neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, the announcement said.
