Mass General Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery earns service award

Massachusetts General Hospital’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) recently received a service excellence award for its overall outstanding performance in 2016 based on positive survey results from both patients and their families.

OMFS attained honors specifically for overall highest achievement in ambulatory surgery based on surveys distributed this year regarding services performed last year, the hospital said in a release.

Together with Mass General’s dental group, OMFS was also highlighted in Boston magazine’s August 2017 issue, ranking among the region’s “Top Dental Experts.” The dental department is, like OMFS, based at the hospital facility and delivers a variety of dental services ranging from preventive to therapeutic and remedial.

“OMFS and dental group serve as teachers and mentors to the next generation of oral and maxillofacial surgeons and dentists,” the release said. “Both departments are committed to patient care, research, education and community service.”
