New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center has new chief operating officer

New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center selected Dr. Laureen Hill to be its senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Hill is taking the post after serving in the Emory Healthcare system, a New York-Presbyterian release said. When Hill steps into her new position, she will oversee operations and costs and make sure that NewYork-Presbyterian's Manhattan facilities provide the best care to those they serve.

New York-Presbyterian/Columbia and NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital use Columbia University Medical Center doctors across almost all medicine fields. Hill and New York-Presbyterian Allen COO Paul Dunphey will collaborate to continue improving operations at the Inwood location, where The Spine Hospital is located. 

Hill has been in management in health organizations affiliated with medical schools for 17 years. At Emory Healthcare, she was the department of anesthesiology chair and anesthesia services chief, Emory’s IT Governance Committee chair and Perioperative Governance Committee co-chair. She also worked at the Washington University School of Medicine as the department of anesthesiology vice chair and an anesthesiology and cardiothoracic surgery professor.

Hill, who has board certification in anesthesiology, belongs to the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Society of Academic Anesthesiology Association.
