University of Pittsburgh Medical Center picnic to honor cancer survivors

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Northwest will sponsor a picnic for cancer survivors and their families Aug. 16 in Seneca, Pennsylvania.

“We would like to invite all cancer survivors and their loved ones to celebrate life and join us for food, entertainment and our 17th annual commemorative ceremony,” UPMC Northwest President Brian Durniok said in a press release.

The picnic, which UPMC Northwest is running in conjunction with the Northwest Hospital Foundation, will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the UPMC Northwest Pavilion, and those interested in attending should register with the UPMC Northwest Community Relations Department before Aug. 11.

The event will feature commemorative ornaments that attendees can purchase in advance to honor their loved ones who are fighting or have fought cancer. The Wendell August ornaments will feature the year and come with a card bearing the honoree’s name. Those interested in purchasing an ornament for $7, should arrange to do so with the Community Relations Department before July 21.
