DeBusk joins American Health Council industry board

The American Health Council has selected Charles DeBusk, vice president of performance and process improvement at Universal Health Services (UHS), to join the council’s industry board.

DeBusk’s vast knowledge and background will help the board in areas like process improvement, statistics, health services, health care, Lean Six Sigma, theory of constraints and service businesses.

DeBusk first got his start in the health care field during college and has dedicated 40 years to the industry. He received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1979 and his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee in 1987.

At UHS, which is located in Delaware, DeBusk is responsible for leading improvements for a better quality of patient care and leadership roles in corporate surgery, pharmacy, radiology and laboratory operations. He is passionate about working with and for patients: he has written multiple peer-reviewed publications and given a variety of speeches on the subject during his career.

Apart from working at UHS, DeBusk is a member of the Society for Health Systems (SHS), Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and American Society for Quality (ASQ).

In his free time, he enjoys golf, scuba diving, reading and working with charitable organizations, including Wounded Warriors and Boy Scouts of America.
