Elton John AIDS Foundation to honor supporters at annual gala

The Elton John AIDS Foundation will honor its most notable supporters at the 15th annual An Enduring Vision gala, which will be hosted by Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Nov. 2.

Supporters include Ban Ki-Moon, United Nations secretary-general; Frank Giustra, philanthropist; and Steve Tisch, philanthropist. Andy Cohen, an Emmy award-winning producer, will be the host for the event.

"We are excited to present the Enduring Vision Award to long-time supporters Frank Giustra and Steve Tisch, who have both been strong allies in the effort to end HIV/AIDS," Sir Elton John, founder of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, said. "We are also very proud to present United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon with the Founder's Award, which celebrates extraordinary contributions to the global effort to end AIDS. He continues to be a vocal supporter for LGBT equality and HIV/AIDS advocacy, declaring LGBT rights as one of the great neglected human rights issues of our time.”

The honorees at this year’s event have a history of providing support to the foundation as well as the worldwide work against HIV/AIDS.

"We have made tremendous progress in the fight to end AIDS,” David Furnish, chairman of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, said. "Today, more people have access to treatment and prevention medicine, and the world has increasingly become a more tolerant and compassionate place. At EJAF, we are deeply grateful to Frank and Steve for helping us in countless ways and for their tremendous generosity to numerous other worthy organizations. We're also grateful for the secretary-general's on-going work to keep HIV/AIDS as a focal issue for the international community and for his deep commitment to helping us end AIDS by 2030."
