Gordon becomes Bristol-Myers Squibb executive vice president, chief commercial officer

Bristol-Myers Squibb recently announced that Murdo Gordon is the company's new executive vice president and chief commercial officer, where he will lead the company in implementing commercial strategies around the world.

Chief commercial officer is a new position that the company has created. Gordon will report directly to CEO Giovanni Caforio while continuing to be part of the leadership team.

Gordon started his new position on June 21. He first began working at the company in 1989. For the first 14 years, he rose in leadership and responsibility within the marketing and sales departments in Canada.

In 2003, Gordon moved to the U.S. While there, he was in senior commercial leadership positions for the company’s neuroscience, cardiovascular and market access areas. He has been the senior vice president of strategy and commercial operations for oncology and immunoscience in the U.S. (2011-2013) as well as the president of the company (2013-2015).

“Murdo has demonstrated tremendous success driving commercial excellence at Bristol-Myers Squibb, and built strong relationships with our markets across the world,” Caforio said. “Murdo has made significant contributions to our success in immuno-oncology and Eliquis, and I am confident his leadership will help drive continued growth and deliver our medicines to more patients faster.”
