Astellas appoints leaders in departments of Ethics and Compliance, U.S. Legal

Astellas Pharma Inc. recently appointed new leaders to important positions within the company’s Ethics and Compliance and U.S. Legal departments, as part of changes that went into effect on April 25.

The new leaders include Mark Wanda as the executive director of anti-bribery and anti-corruption for Ethics and Compliance. His responsibilities include overseeing the company’s worldwide anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance programs. Wanda’s direct supervisor is Catherine Wertjes, senior vice president of Ethics and Compliance.

"Working with the highest sense of integrity and ethics is a cornerstone of our business," Wertjes said. "We have the utmost confidence that Mark's skills and experience will enable us to continue to further Astellas' standard for global compliance."

In addition, Nahrin Marino is now the deputy general counsel of Astellas U.S. legal regulatory. As the director of investigations, she will directly report to Catherine Levitt, who is the vice president of the legal department.

Matt Silversten is also a deputy general counsel within the U.S. Legal Department’s litigation and risk management group. Silversten will also report to Levitt as his supervisor.

"Nahrin and Matt have been instrumental to the growth of our Legal department in the Americas region over the past five years," Levitt said. "Their collective experience enhances Astellas' response to diverse legal issues."
