The ALS Association as well as the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) recently announced the recipients of the 2016 Clinical Research Training Fellowship and Clinician-Scientist Development Award in ALS Research.
The goal of the fellowship is to create innovative solutions to fill the gaps in clinical research about ALS. All of the awards are meant to encourage promising, talented young researchers into ALS studies. The fellowship would encourage the researchers’ developments for making positive, significant contributions to clinical research that would benefit ALS patients and their families.
This year’s recipients include Dr. Cindy Ly from Washington University in St. Louis. She earned the Clinical Research Training Fellowship in ALS Research.
“I am truly honored to receive this award and am grateful to the AAN Foundation and The ALS Association for supporting my development as a physician-scientist, as well as research efforts to expand our understanding of this devastating disease,” Ly said.
Dr. Lindsey Hayes from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore received the Clinician Scientist Development Award in ALS Research.
“I am very honored to receive this award and grateful to The ALS Association, American Academy of Neurology and American Brain Foundation for their support,” Hayes said. “This award will provide critical early funding for me as I begin my career as a physician-scientist and allow me to pursue research that I hope will advance therapy development for ALS.”
