The American Society of Anesthesiologists announced on Aug. 11 that ANESTHESIOLOGY 2026, its annual meeting, will highlight the latest advances in anesthesia care from Oct. 16-20 at the San Diego Convention Center.
Research findings to be presented include evidence that ketamine administered during C-sections could help ease early symptoms of postpartum depression. Other studies show that common pain relievers such as ibuprofen may reduce the risk of delirium after surgery. Additional presentations will cover how patients who take sleep medication before surgery may experience better sleep, less pain, and reduced opioid use following their procedures.
The meeting will also feature research indicating that cannabis use may increase the risk of a heart attack around the time of surgery but lower the risk of postsurgical blood clots. These topics are among several timely studies scheduled for discussion at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2026.
According to event organizers, ANESTHESIOLOGY 2026 is considered the specialty's premier event and will take place at the San Diego Convention Center, located at 111 Harbor Drive.
