ENT & Allergy Associates announced on July 13 that Sydney C. Butts, MD, FACS, will join its Bay Ridge West office in Brooklyn effective September 1. Dr. Butts is a nationally recognized otolaryngologist and facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon with more than two decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience.
Dr. Butts has held several leadership roles at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, including Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She has been recognized for her contributions to patient care, resident education, surgical innovation, and leadership within the field of otolaryngology.
At ENT & Allergy Associates (ENTA), Dr. Butts will provide comprehensive care for both adult and pediatric patients with a focus on facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Her work includes reconstruction after excision of facial skin cancers as well as treatment for facial injuries from trauma such as falls or sports accidents. She also offers rhinoplasty surgery aimed at improving breathing and appearance, and performs complex surgeries to correct congenital anomalies like cleft lip or palate among children.
Dr. Butts earned her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine before completing her residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center and a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Throughout her career, she has received honors such as the SUNY Downstate GME Teacher of the Year Award, the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Honor Award, and the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health Leadership Award.
