Four biotech companies announce hiring after securing series B funding rounds

Biopharma professionals seeking new opportunities may find positions at companies that have recently secured series B financing, as reported on Jul. 30. Series B funding is typically awarded to businesses that have moved beyond the initial startup phase, achieved significant milestones, and are now aiming to accelerate growth.

Atavistik Bio, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, focuses on developing allosteric therapeutics for unmet patient needs. The company’s pipeline includes ATV-1601 for hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) and a JAK2 V617F mutant-selective inhibitor program targeting myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). In March, Atavistik announced it had closed a $40 million series B extension, bringing its total proceeds to $160 million. These funds will support clinical development of both programs through proof of concept. The company is currently hiring for roles including senior scientist in DMPK, senior director of biostatistics, and senior manager of HR operations.

Nura Bio develops neuroprotective small molecule therapies for neurological diseases such as ALS from its headquarters in South San Francisco. Its lead candidate NB-4746 targets axon degeneration and is being studied in a Phase 1b/2a trial involving ALS patients. Last month, Nura raised $73.8 million in series B financing to advance NB-4746 and NB-9402—another SARM1 inhibitor now dosing in first-in-human studies—through clinical development. Open positions include senior clinical trial manager, senior director of clinical development, and supply chain manager.

Pinnacle Medicines operates out of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and Shanghai with a focus on oral peptide medicines designed using artificial intelligence technologies combined with physics-based simulations. Pinnacle’s pipeline leans toward immunology; one lead program is expected to enter human testing for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by year’s end, according to CEO Jonathan Wang. In March, the company announced an oversubscribed $89 million series B round that will help move lead programs through proof-of-concept trials while expanding research capabilities. Pinnacle seeks an executive director of project management along with directors for DMPK and chemistry roles.

SonoThera uses nonviral ultrasound-mediated approaches to develop genetic medicines aimed at treating muscle, kidney, liver, heart, and central nervous system conditions from its base in South San Francisco. The company closed an oversubscribed $125 million series B round in June; proceeds will advance lead programs into the clinic—including those targeting Duchenne muscular dystrophy—and scale proprietary platform technologies ahead of anticipated human trials beginning in 2027. SonoThera has openings for an executive assistant as well as facilities management and quality leadership roles.
