The 70th International Congress of Hearing Care Professionals has offered a platform for start-ups with a free stand at the EUHA Industry Exhibition and presentation spaces made available, according to an Aug. 3 announcement. Several criteria were considered in selecting the companies, including the technical relevance of their products, services to the industry, and the innovative nature of their business ideas.
Four start-ups have been chosen to participate. SingularMind from Canada develops artificial intelligence-powered solutions for diagnosing and treating subjective tinnitus. Through a web-based teleaudiology platform, patients are assessed, individually classified, and treated with a combination of acoustic therapy and psychological support. The company aims to make high-quality audiological care accessible worldwide while reducing costs and minimizing the need for in-person clinic visits.
MindAffect from the Netherlands is a medical technology company working on an objective hearing diagnosis system based on AI-supported brain-computer interface technology. Its 'SOFI' system can generate an objective audiogram within about ten minutes, which is particularly useful for patients who are unable to cooperate fully during conventional hearing tests.
Xenylab from France is developing a virtual reality system that uses sound localization tests for diagnosing hearing disorders. The application is intended to be used as a medical device in both diagnosis and rehabilitation of people with hearing loss. Initial studies and practical trials involving research institutions and a major hearing aid company have reportedly been successful.
HearScribe from the United Kingdom offers an AI-powered software solution designed for automatic documentation of audiological consultations. The system generates clinical notes, patient information, administrative tasks, and doctor’s letters without storing any patient data. Developed by practicing audiologists, it is already being used by customers in the UK.
