BeOne Medicines is committing $300 million to its flagship manufacturing site in New Jersey, a move that will add small molecule manufacturing capabilities and bolster domestic production, according to a July 23 release from the company.
The investment will be directed toward the Hopewell site and is expected to create 120 new jobs. The expansion of BeOne’s Princeton West Innovation Campus—which also serves as the company's research and development hub—will include a new three-story, 145,000-square-foot building for drug manufacturing and packaging. The company said this initiative aims to combine existing biologics production with new small molecule capabilities in support of BeOne’s hematology portfolio, including products such as the targeted BTK inhibitor Brukinsa and investigational BTK degrader tacabrutideg.
Additional features of the expansion include new laboratories, office space, and reserved areas for future growth that may be used "to support strategic collaborations with partners," according to BeOne. Switzerland-headquartered BeOne initially dedicated $800 million to develop the Hopewell campus when it opened in July 2024. With this latest commitment, total investment at the site exceeds $1 billion. The changes are expected to be completed by 2029, at which point BeOne anticipates employing a total of 240 workers at the location.
BeOne joins other pharmaceutical companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Eli Lilly in expanding drug production within the United States amid political pressure.
